Czar Taylor : Public Servant with Private Schemes and Power Plays

Government, Local Government, Politics No Comments »

Czar Taylor has done it again. After pushing a ballpark for downtown through for a rush vote, it is time for the City to grad some more land. Let’s review, shall we?

1) Mayor Taylor pushed a ballpark idea, insisting on a rushed vote, even flying back one counselor on her private jet to vote (who just happened to vote her way)

2) Mayor Taylor is listed as one of the “private” donors who gave part of the total amount of 30 million dollars to spur the building of the ballpark. (this isn’t known publicly or by the council until shortly before the rushed vote)

3) Another person flying back with the counselor is an ex-pier from her former job at Bank of Oklahoma and backer of the ballpark.

4) After the public learns of the fly-in vote Mayor Taylor makes takes her planes’ flight information out of public view.

5) Now that the ballpark is looking like a sure-thing, the City needs more land adjacent to the future site. So the TDA who at first negotiated with Novus Homes for the adjacent land was advised to stop negotiations and simply take the land with Imminent Domain. Yet the Czar hid behind the Iron Curtain of “I am not on the board” to try to tell us she had no influence. So, the connections with personnel on the TDA board; the timing of taking property that wouldn’t be taken unless the Czar and others donated monies; and emails talking about donors benefiting from said sale are all bunk? That doesn’t sound like Tulsa to me.

Does this raise your eyebrows a little? What have we let our cities and our country become? Isn’t the idea that we elect public servants to serve the public? How is having so many private ties to a multi-million dollar deal; flying in votes; hiding donation information till the last minutes; and grabbing land from private citizens a good thing for a Mayor to be associated with?

Yes comrades it is time to hoist the Hammer and Sickle and sing

“Skvoz’ grozy siyalo nam solntse svobody,
I Lenin veliky nam put’ ozaril,
Na pravoye delo on podnyal narody,
Na trud i na podvigi nas vdokhnovil!”

(excerpt from the Soviet National Anthem circa 1977 )

Some may say that I am just a naysayer and wouldn’t agree with any improvement to downtown. They would be mistaken. I want Tulsa to have a great downtown; I differ on the means used to achieve such and end. Some may say that I won’t like Taylor no matter what because of her money and access. They would be mistaken.

I don’t care if you are rich; I applaud it because that means you have worked hard and deserve your reward. However, if you are rich and well connected, you should make certain you are not gaining from public office. If you want to donate to a cause, you must tell the electorate before donating. If you want to create new structures you must divulge any possible private connection even if two or three persons removed. If you need an emergency vote; use City resources to gather the necessary personnel; but know that the use of City equipment is regulated by laws and the actions must justify the needs. If you want the public to trust you, there must be nothing to dig up; not simply being able to hide facts, but not having anything to be found. It must be harder for the public servant than for the private business person because they are in office to serve, not to profit or gain. In short, as my Dad taught me, right is right and wrong is wrong.

Tulsa World Digs at Sally Kern One More Time

Melee, Politics, Pop Culture No Comments »

In case you missed it, front page of the Local Section under the fold in today’s Tulsa World has a little story about Sally Kern. You know who she is, she is the woman who dared to defy the “Gay Agenda” and actually compared it to something bad. The Tulsa World’s crack team of defenders of the Liberal Faith has struck a blow to avenge the insults. Poor Mrs. Kern got flagged walking into the Capitol building with — A Gun! To the untrained eye, this could look like it was not even really a story; especially since it isn’t the first time, Mrs. Kern is a licensed gun owner, and the security team wasn’t exactly tazing her bro. However, the journalistic professionals decided that not only was this leading news, but it gave them a chance to rehash the whole “Gay Gate” again. Thank you Tulsa World, you defenders of the uncommon, unrealistic, or un-American alternative lifestyles; thank you for not letting this go and proving once again, that real journalistic integrity comes from anybody but actual journalists. BTW, who told them about this anyway? Kudos to the tattletales and mudslingers in the State Capitol building, you deserve a medal.
